White ATZ ceramic with a red gold caseband
One of the two ceramic executions of the RM 72-01: white ATZ ceramic for the bezel and caseback with a 5N red gold caseband, a red gold inner flange, black pushers, a white crown and a white rubber strap. The other is the black TZP ceramic version on the same red gold caseband, which is card 486 in this catalogue.
ATZ — alumina-toughened zirconia — is the white ceramic Richard Mille uses across the collection, obtained by sintering aluminium oxide under heat and pressure.

Design and engineering
- Calibre CRMC1Skeletonised movement with automatic bidirectional winding, hours, minutes, small seconds, date, flyback chronograph, function indicator and stop seconds. It is 6.05 mm thick, comprises 425 components, runs on 39 jewels at 28,800 vph (4 Hz), and provides around 50 hours of power reserve regardless of how much the chronograph is used.
- ATZ ceramicAlumina-toughened zirconia, obtained by sintering aluminium oxide under heat and pressure. Richard Mille specifies it for hardness and scratch resistance, and for a surface that holds its finish.
- Flyback chronograph with two oscillating pinionsPatented by Richard Mille and the first chronograph to use two oscillating pinions. The pinions are mounted on rockers actuated by a six-column wheel, and draw power directly from the barrel rather than through the timekeeping gear train, so that the chronograph’s three counters are supplied at the point where torque is greatest and the display is disengaged from the chronograph’s seconds wheel. Richard Mille specifies the arrangement as thinner than a vertical clutch and less sensitive to disturbance.
