Overview

German colours in Carbon TPT® and red Quartz TPT®

The RM 67-02 Alexander Zverev was introduced in 2018 for the German tennis player, alongside executions for Alexis Pinturault, Sébastien Ogier and Fernando Alonso. Richard Mille’s construction for it is specific: Carbon TPT® front and back plates, a red Quartz TPT® caseband and a yellow crown protector, with the black, red and gold of the German flag carried across the hand-painted grade 5 titanium dial. The strap is red textile.

The card’s suffix, FQ CA, corresponds to that pairing of Quartz TPT® and Carbon TPT®, and the material line says so.

Design and engineering

  • Calibre CRMA7Skeletonised automatic winding movement with hours and minutes, on 25 jewels at 28,800 vph (4 Hz), with around 50 hours (± 10%) of power reserve.
  • Two-composite caseQuartz TPT® is built from silica threads in layers no thicker than 45 microns; Carbon TPT® from divided carbon fibres in layers a maximum of 30 microns thick. Both are oriented 45° apart from ply to ply, cured at 120°C under 6 bar and machined in-house. Silica takes colour in a way carbon does not, which is why the coloured executions in this series are silica-based composites.
  • Titanium dial0.40 mm, black DLC-treated, hand-painted in the German national colours.
  • Baseplate and bridgesGrade 5 titanium. The baseplate carries a black DLC treatment, which Richard Mille specifies for rigidity and for the surface flatness the gear train requires; the bridges carry a grey DLC treatment and are satin-finished, microblasted and bevelled by hand.
  • RotorCarbon TPT® and white gold, on the OneWay® winding system with ceramic ball bearings, which allows the barrel to be wound efficiently in an extra-flat calibre.
  • Case assemblyWater-resistant to 30 m via two nitrile O-ring seals, assembled with 12 grade 5 titanium spline screws and 316L stainless steel washers.
  • Comfort strapEntirely seamless, non-slip and highly elastic; Richard Mille describes it as the lightest strap it has made. The complete watch weighs 32 grams with the strap.
