A cable-suspended movement inside a blue sapphire case
The RM 53-02 takes the suspension principle of the polo watch and puts it inside a case machined almost entirely from blue sapphire, so that the cables holding the movement — and the pulleys they run over — can be read from every direction.
The braided cable is 0.27 mm thick. Achieving the case’s glare-free finish required over a thousand hours of work, sapphire being second only to diamond in hardness and correspondingly slow to grind and polish. The strap is white.
