A set skull in a black ceramic case
The RM 52-01 is the second watch in the Skull collection, running the calibre RM052 manual-winding tourbillon. The skull is the movement’s structure rather than an applied motif: the upper and lower jaws hold the ruby of the tourbillon cage, the back of the skull acts as the centre bridge, and four bridges run from the movement to the caseband.
On this execution the skull is set with stones across the cranium, against a black ceramic case and a black rubber strap.

Design and engineering
- Skull as baseplate and bridgesCut to shape rather than applied, and validation-tested for resistance after skeletonisation. The skull is the movement’s baseplate and bridges, not a motif laid over them.
- Set craniumStones cover the upper surface of the skull, leaving the jaws and the tourbillon cage clear.
- TZP ceramicMade from 95% yttrium-stabilised zirconium, with a density of 6 g/cm³, high scratch resistance and a low thermal conductivity coefficient. Its pronounced grain takes microblasting with hand-polished corners.
- Fast-rotating single barrelDelivering more constant torque across the power reserve than a conventional barrel.
- Free-sprung balance9.12 mm in diameter — large relative to the compactness of the movement — running at 3 Hz.
- Torque-limiting crownGuarding the winding stem and the mainspring barrel against accidental overwinding.
