Diamond-set white gold with integrated grade 5 titanium skull calibre
Alongside the 15 titanium watches, Richard Mille produced six individual gem-set RM 052 examples in red or white gold. This execution sets the case with rows of white diamonds across the upper and lower bezel, framing the grade 5 titanium skull, which is left unset and black.
The manually wound RM052 calibre retains the same structural concept as the titanium version: the skull forms the movement baseplate and bridges, its upper and lower jaws support the ruby of the tourbillon cage, the back of the skull is the centre bridge, and four crossed-bone bridges connect the movement to the case. The strap is black rubber.
The RM 052 ran to 21 pieces in total: 15 in titanium and six individual gem-set pieces in red or white gold. The six gem-set watches are individual pieces rather than a sub-edition of six identical ones.

Design and engineering
- Skull baseplate and bridgesGrade 5 titanium, cut to the form of a skull and load-bearing rather than ornamental. Here it is left unset and dark, against the set bezel, and tested for strength after cutting.
- Tourbillon supportThe upper and lower jaws support the ruby bearing of the tourbillon cage, so the escapement sits in the skull’s mouth.
- Crossed-bone bridgesFour bridges connect the movement to the caseband.
- Diamond-set white-gold caseRows of white diamonds across the upper and lower bezel, around the opened case architecture.
- Opened case constructionOpenings are machined through the bezel and caseback, with hand-polished chamfers and pillars. The cut-away bezel is retained on the set execution, so the setting follows a cut outline rather than a solid one.
- Carbon and titanium flangesThe upper flange is carbon and the lower flange is grade 5 titanium with DLC treatment.
