Blue flange and crown on the white configuration
The RM 055 Bubba Watson was introduced in 2012 as a non-tourbillon successor to the RM 038 Bubba Watson of 2011, and Richard Mille produced a series of regional limited editions alongside the unlimited standard model. This is the Asia Blue Edition, made for the Asian market in a run of 30 pieces and dated to around 2013.
It takes the case of the standard white RM 055 — ATZ white ceramic bezel and back bezel over a grade 5 titanium case middle encased in high-pressure injected white rubber — and marks it out with colour applied only to the flange and the crown, both in blue. The hour indices, the minute track and the SWISS MADE line sit on that blue flange in white. Everything else, including the strap, is white.
ATZ is an aluminium-oxide ceramic. Richard Mille rates it at 1,400 Vickers and states that its colour is unchangeable. The bezel is formed from tubes of aluminium oxide powder injected at nearly 2,000 bar; the brand states this raises rigidity by 20 to 30% and minimises porosity. The curved bezel profile and its satin finish are produced by extended machining with diamond tools.

Design and engineering
- Calibre RMUL2Manual winding skeletonised movement with hours, minutes and seconds. The baseplate and bridges are grade 5 titanium, PVD- and Titalyt®-treated, specified for rigidity and for the surface flatness required by the going train.
- Shock resistanceRichard Mille states the calibre withstands accelerations of over 500 g. The movement is suspended in the case on four shock absorbers linking it to the case internals, an arrangement developed for the impact of a golf swing.
- Free-sprung variable-inertia balanceThe regulator index is removed; four small weights on the balance provide the inertia adjustment, which Richard Mille specifies for repeatability and for stability through impact and servicing.
- Double-barrel systemEnergy is dispersed across two barrels, equalising torque and reducing pressure and friction at the bearings and pivots.
- ATZ bezelHigh-pressure powder injection at nearly 2,000 bar produces the ceramic blank; machining is carried out with diamond tooling. Richard Mille places ATZ among the hardest materials after diamond.
- Rubberised titanium casebandWhite rubber is injected at high pressure around the grade 5 titanium case middle and back bezel, forming the protective outer surface.
- Blue flangeThe inner flange carries the hour indices, minute track and SWISS MADE line in white against blue, and is matched by a blue rubber collar on the crown.
