Overview
Carbon TPT® case with red flange, boutique limited edition
The Black Night places the RM 011 in a case machined entirely from Carbon TPT®, the layered carbon composite Richard Mille introduced on this model in 2013. The bezel, caseband and caseback are all executed in the material; the screws are the only visible components that are not. Against the black case and black dial furniture, the flange carrying the tachymetric scale is red.
The edition was distributed through Richard Mille boutiques rather than the wider retail network. Contemporary coverage records the boutiques concerned as Geneva, Paris, London, Milan, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The watch is fitted to a black rubber strap.

Design and engineering
- Carbon TPT® case constructionCarbon TPT® is built from more than 600 layers of parallel carbon filaments obtained by dividing carbon fibres. The layers, no more than 30 microns thick, are impregnated with resin and woven on a machine that rotates the direction of the weft by 45° between successive layers. The block is heated to 120 °C at a pressure of 6 bar before being machined at Richard Mille’s ProArt case facility, where the profile turning cuts across the layers and exposes them as the surface undulation characteristic of the material.
- Red flangeThe flange carrying the tachymetric scale is red. The counters, hands and applied numerals are executed in black with white detailing.
- Calibre RMAC1Skeletonised automatic winding movement, entirely in grade 5 titanium and hand finished. It was Richard Mille’s first flyback chronograph calibre. The chronograph can be reset and restarted with a single press without first being stopped.
- Annual calendar with oversize dateThe oversize date sits at 12 o’clock, the month indicator between 4 and 5 o’clock. The calendar distinguishes 30- and 31-day months and requires correction once a year, at the end of February.
- Variable-geometry rotorThe rotor’s winding efficiency can be adjusted by repositioning weights on its arms, allowing the winding rate to be matched to the wearer’s level of activity.
- Movement mountingThe movement is carried on rubber O-ring seals with silent blocks and secured by 20 grade 5 titanium spline screws with 316L stainless steel washers.
