Overview
The hobnail-bezel Calatrava, manually wound
The Patek Philippe Calatrava, reference 6119G-001, in white gold with a hobnail-guilloched bezel, charcoal grey vertically satin-finished dial, white gold 'obus' markers and dauphine-style hands, on a shiny black alligator strap. Manually wound calibre 30-255 PS with twin barrels, a 65-hour power reserve and small seconds at 6 o'clock; 39 mm, 8.08 mm high.
The reference 6119 is the Calatrava with the hobnail-guilloched bezel — the form Patek Philippe describes as the famous Calatrava and one of the most emblematic in its style — in a contemporary version. The case is 39 mm across and 8.08 mm high, with a sapphire crystal back, and the dial is read through faceted applied 'obus' hour markers and faceted dauphine-style hands, with small seconds at 6 o'clock and no date.
The movement is the manually wound calibre 30-255 PS, which Patek Philippe presents as the point of the reference: two barrels give it a power reserve of at least 65 hours, and it measures 31 mm across and 2.55 mm high, with 164 parts and 27 jewels. At 31 mm it fills much of the 39 mm case, and its 2.55 mm height is what keeps the case to 8.08 mm. It runs at 28,800 semi-oscillations an hour on a Spiromax® balance spring and carries the Patek Philippe Seal.
For collectors
The 6119 is a manually wound watch: Patek Philippe ties the 65-hour reserve to twin barrels and presents the slender case as the result. With small seconds at 6 o'clock and no date, the dial is the plain hobnail-bezel layout.
Key details
Design and engineering
- Hobnail bezelThe bezel is guilloched with the hobnail (Clous de Paris) pattern, the detail Patek Philippe treats as the signature of this Calatrava; the case is 39 mm across and 8.08 mm high, with a sapphire crystal back, water-resistant to 30 m.
- Twin barrelsTwo mainspring barrels in the calibre 30-255 PS give a power reserve of at least 65 hours, which Patek Philippe presents as the reason for the movement.
- DialCharcoal grey with a vertical satin finish; applied faceted 'obus' hour markers and faceted dauphine-style hands in white gold, which Patek Philippe credits with the dial's legibility; small seconds at 6 o'clock.
- Strap and buckleShiny black alligator leather with square scales, closed by a white gold prong buckle of the design Patek Philippe attributes to Henri Stern for the American market.
