The Cubitus at 45 mm
The Patek Philippe Cubitus, reference 5821/1A-001, in steel on the steel bracelet, sunburst olive green dial horizontally embossed, white gold luminous markers and hands and a white gold date frame. Self-winding calibre 26-330 S C with date at 3 o'clock, sweep seconds and stop-seconds; 45 mm from 10 to 4 o'clock, 8.3 mm high.
The reference 5821/1 is the Cubitus with date and sweep seconds in its 45 mm size: a two-part case that is square with rounded edges, measured 45 mm across the diagonal from 10 to 4 o'clock, 8.3 mm high, with side attachments into the bracelet, a screw-down crown and a sapphire crystal back. Patek Philippe presents the design as its casual-chic sports watch, and its look as the contrast between polished and vertically satin-brushed surfaces across case, bezel and bracelet, with a dial horizontally embossed under a sunburst finish.
Inside is the self-winding calibre 26-330 S C: 27 mm across, 3.32 mm high, 207 parts and 30 jewels, wound by a 21K gold central rotor that Patek Philippe notes carries the same horizontal motif as the dial. Its stop-seconds function halts the seconds hand when the crown is pulled so the time can be set to the second, and the date sits in an aperture at 3 o'clock under an applied frame in the metal of the markers. It runs at 28,800 semi-oscillations an hour on a Gyromax® balance with a Spiromax® balance spring, for a power reserve of 35 to 45 hours, and carries the Patek Philippe Seal. The bracelet closes with the brand's patented fold-over clasp, which has a lockable adjustment system.

The 45 mm figure is a diagonal, measured from 10 to 4 o'clock, not a width — Patek Philippe's way of stating the size of a square case. The horizontal embossing runs from the dial onto the rotor, which Patek Philippe gives as a Cubitus detail, and the finishing — polished against vertical satin-brushed — is the same on case, bezel and bracelet.
