Overview
The brand's own chronograph, with a perpetual calendar
The Patek Philippe Grand Complications Chronograph, Perpetual Calendar, reference 5270P-016, in platinum with a lacquered blue dial, black-gradient rim, white tachymeter scale and white gold faceted markers, on a black composite strap. Manually wound calibre CH 29-535 PS Q, chronograph with perpetual calendar; 41 mm, 12.4 mm high.
The platinum execution 5270P-016 carries a lacquered blue dial with a black-gradient rim and a tachymeter scale printed in white, with applied faceted "obus"-style hour markers and dauphine-style hands in white gold, on a black composite strap with a fabric pattern, closed by a platinum fold-over clasp. A diamond is set into the case at 6 o'clock. Patek Philippe presents it as the sporty reading of the 5270.
The reference 5270 is Patek Philippe's perpetual calendar chronograph on the manually wound calibre CH 29-535 PS Q, in the Grand Complications collection. The case is 41 mm across and 12.4 mm high, entirely polished, with a concave bezel and two-tier lugs.
The calibre CH 29-535 PS Q is the brand's own chronograph movement with perpetual calendar, wound by hand, and Patek Philippe credits it with six patented innovations on a traditional construction. The chronograph has a central hand and an instantaneous 30-minute counter; the calendar shows the day and month together in a double aperture at 12 o'clock, the day/night and leap year indications in round apertures, and the date by a hand at 6 o'clock, with the moon phases and small seconds. The movement measures 32 mm across and 7.00 mm high, with 456 parts and 33 jewels; it runs at 28,800 semi-oscillations an hour on a Breguet balance spring, has a power reserve of 55 to 65 hours with the chronograph disengaged, and carries the Patek Philippe Seal.
For collectors
The calendar layout is the brand's regular one for the model: day and month together at 12 o'clock, leap year and day/night in round apertures, the date by hand at 6 o'clock.
