A music box that plays The Godfather
The Jacob & Co. Opera Godfather, reference OP110.40.AG.AF.A, in an 18-carat rose gold and sapphire crystal case, 49 mm across and 20 mm high. Its dial is 18-carat rose gold, and 666 brilliant diamonds (≈1.85 ct) are set on the cylinders. The black alligator leather strap has an 18-carat rose gold deployant clasp.
Made under a partnership with Paramount Pictures, this watch is a tribute to The Godfather. A small figure of Don Vito Corleone sits at the centre, with the film’s puppeteer strings engraved on a music box cover shaped like a piano. A crank at 3 o’clock, shaped like a violin, winds the movement.
At the press of a pusher, a music box plays Nino Rota’s main theme for 30 seconds while the whole movement turns on its axis. The time dial counter-rotates at the same speed, so it stays upright. Calibre JCFM04 has 658 components and a 50-hour power reserve. This version is limited to 88 pieces.
