Overview
Two independent time zones on a curved dial
Jacob & Co.’s The World is Yours Dual Time Zone, reference DT100.41.AA.AB.A, in an 18-carat black gold case, 43 mm across and 14 mm high. Its blue lacquered dial has stamped continents in a rose gold finish and a compass rose at the centre, on a blue alligator leather strap with an 18-carat rose gold pin buckle.
The case and caseback of this version are 18-carat black gold. The pin buckle stays 18-carat rose gold.
Jacob & Co. says this watch follows an older two-zone watch, given to Jacob Arabo by his father when he was 13. The case is rounded, the dial is a wide curve and the sapphire crystal above it curves wider still. The hands are inclined at 12° to follow the dial. The dial is stamped with a view of the western hemisphere, and the engraving on the caseback shows the remaining continents.
Self-winding calibre JCAA14 gives two time zones, each with its own hours and minutes. The wearer sets them separately, down to the minute. The crown has three positions: winding, setting the lower zone and setting the upper zone. A small seconds hand shaped like a wind rose sits at the centre and serves both zones.
