Overview
A Chiron-shaped case set with baguette gems
The Jacob & Co. Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon Baguette, reference BU800.40.BD.BD.C, in an 18-carat rose gold and sapphire crystals case, 55 x 44 mm and 22 mm high. Its rose gold-plated dial has blue indices and a blue “EB” logo, on a black openworked rubber strap with an 18-carat rose gold deployant clasp. This version is limited to 52 pieces.
The partnership between Jacob & Co. and Bugatti dates from 2019. The case is a volume of metal and sapphire glass whose lines echo the Chiron, and seven sapphire panels give a 360-degree view of the movement. Jacob & Co. describes this as the high jewellery version of its Chiron watch, set with baguette-cut stones.
Hand-wound calibre JCAM37 has 578 components, 51 jewels and a 60-hour power reserve. A W16 engine-block automaton animates for 15 seconds when the right crown is used. The flying tourbillon turns once a minute at a 30-degree incline, and a fuel gauge-style indicator at 9 o’clock shows the power reserve.
