A skeleton movement under baguette-cut stones
The Jacob & Co. Brilliant Skeleton Baguette, reference BT542.40.AA.UA.A, in an 18-carat rose gold case, 47 mm across and 13.83 mm high. The case is set with baguette-cut yellow sapphires, on a light grey alligator leather strap with an 18-carat white gold clasp.
Jacob & Co. introduced the round Brilliant collection in 2017, with no lugs and the strap attached directly to the case. It says a skeleton movement is first a design exercise, and that its watchmakers can give the open-worked calibre almost any shape. For this model it chose a highly skeletonised, symmetrical form. The baguette-cut stones are invisibly set, with no prongs to break the surface.
Hand-wound calibre JCAM04 has 150 components, 19 jewels and a 72-hour power reserve, with a one-minute flying tourbillon. Its structure is open-worked. This version is limited to 9 pieces.
