A skeleton movement under green baguettes
The Jacob & Co. Brilliant Skeleton Baguette, reference BS531.30.BZ.AA.A, in an 18-carat white gold case, 44 mm across. The case is set with 226 baguette tsavorites, on a white strap with an 18-carat white gold clasp.
Jacob & Co. introduced the round Brilliant collection in 2017, with no lugs and the strap attached directly to the case. It says a skeleton movement is first a design exercise, and that its watchmakers can give the open-worked calibre almost any shape. For this model it chose a highly skeletonised, symmetrical form. The baguette-cut tsavorites are invisibly set, with no prongs to break the surface.
Hand-wound calibre JCAM01 was developed for this model, Jacob & Co. says. It hollows out every component that would otherwise be solid, so the structure itself forms the design. It has 150 components, 19 jewels and a 72-hour power reserve, with a one-minute flying tourbillon. This version is limited to 18 pieces.
