A compact quartz movement in a central island
The Jacob & Co. Brilliant Mystery, reference BM526.30.BD.BE.A, in an 18-carat white gold case, 38 mm across and 10.15 mm high. Its dial of 18-carat white gold and sapphire discs is set with 51 baguette-cut emeralds, on a silver satin strap with an 18-carat white gold pin buckle. This version is limited to 18 pieces.
Jacob & Co. introduced the Brilliant collection of ladies’ watches in 2017: round, without lugs, with the strap attached directly to the case. Brilliant Mystery adds a mystery-clock display, which Jacob & Co. describes as a tribute to the mystery clocks of Jean-Eugène Robert-Houdin.
Jacob & Co. says it chose quartz calibre JCGQ02, one of the few quartz movements in its catalogue, because it is compact enough to fit in the small central island and strong enough to drive the display. Two stacked transparent sapphire discs carry a printed black triangle each, for the hours and the minutes.
