Overview
A solar system on the wrist
The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Tourbillon Baguette, reference AT810.40.BD.UA.B, in an 18-carat rose gold case, 50 mm across and 25 mm high. Its titanium dial has an 18-carat rose gold base dial invisibly set with 281 baguette degradé tsavorites (≈11.55 ct), on a green alligator strap with an 18-carat rose gold folding buckle. This version is a pièce unique.
In this version the lugs carry 120 baguette white diamonds and the base dial carries baguette degradé tsavorites, and the clasp is a folding buckle.
Jacob Arabo turned his interest in space into the Astronomia concept in 2014, modelling a planetary system at wristwatch scale. A vertical platform with four arms rises from the base dial and turns on its own axis, and that motion drives the movement’s functions and indications. The platform completes a revolution in 10 minutes.
Hand-wound calibre JCAM18 has 365 components, 42 jewels and a 60-hour power reserve. A triple-axis flying tourbillon hangs from one arm: its first axis turns in 60 seconds, its second in 2.5 minutes, and the platform adds the third. On another arm, a differential gear system turns the hour and minute dial against the platform at the same speed, so the time stays upright.
