Overview
A dragon coiled around a fixed movement
The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Dragon, reference AT802.50.DR.UB.A, in an 18-carat yellow gold case with sapphire side panes, 50 mm across and 25 mm high. Its openworked titanium dial sits off-centre, with baguette-cut white diamonds on the base, lugs and clasp, on a blue alligator leather strap. This version is a pièce unique.
The case is 18-carat yellow gold with an 18-carat white gold caseback, and the crafted dragon is hand-painted green.
Jacob & Co. built the Astronomia as a vertical, rotating movement. For the Dragon it fixed that movement in place, which leaves room for a large three-dimensional dragon between the four satellite arms. Like every Astronomia, it models a solar system: the Earth is a magnesium globe and the moon is a white diamond. The dragon is coiled around the movement and is made and finished by hand.
Hand-wound calibre JCAM25 is the non-spinning version of the Astronomia calibre. It has 384 components and a 60-hour power reserve. The double-axis tourbillon hangs from one arm in an openworked carriage with a single attachment point, which makes it a flying tourbillon.
