Overview
A hand-painted sculpture in a vertical movement
The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Dragon, reference AS912.30.AA.AA.A, in an 18-carat white gold case, 44 mm across and 21 mm high. It has a titanium dial and a hand-painted tiger and green dragon, on a green alligator strap with an 18-carat white gold and titanium deployant clasp. Baguette diamonds are set on the base, lugs and clasp.
In this version the case, caseback and sculpture are 18-carat white gold, and the clasp pairs 18-carat white gold with titanium.
Jacob & Co. fitted a hand-made sculpture into the vertical Astronomia structure. The figure is cast, finished and painted by hand, and it coils around the movement and between its satellites. Jacob & Co. describes its dragons as wingless and inspired by the Asian tradition.
Jacob & Co. says the vertical Astronomia movement normally rotates, and that for this model it stays fixed so the sculpture fits within its structure. Hand-wound calibre JCAM42 has 295 components and a 48-hour power reserve. Its flying tourbillon cage turns once a minute, and the Earth globe turns once in 60 seconds. This version is limited to 9 pieces.
