A tourbillon on a rotating platform
The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Casino, reference AT160.40.AB.AF.A, in an 18-carat rose gold case with a single-block sapphire caseband, 47 mm across and 24 mm high. It has an openworked dial, on a black alligator leather strap with an 18-carat rose gold deployant clasp. This version is limited to 6 pieces.
The movement turns once in 10 minutes around a central vertical axis and carries four arms. A flying tourbillon hangs from one arm and turns in 60 seconds, and the platform’s rotation adds a second axis.
Hand-wound calibre JCAM36 has 390 components and a 60-hour power reserve. The hour and minute dial sits on another arm and counter-rotates through a differential at the platform’s speed, so it stays upright and readable.
