A planetary system under sapphire
The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Tourbillon, reference AT120.30.AD.SD.C, in an 18-carat white gold and sapphire crystal case, 50 mm across and 25.45 mm high. Its dial is titanium with blued hands, on a blue alligator strap with an 18-carat white gold deployant buckle.
The caseback is sapphire with palladium metallisation.
Astronomia Tourbillon is Jacob & Co.’s planetary system for the wrist, and its complications take the form of planetary bodies: a tourbillon, a diamond moon, an Earth globe and a rotating dial. The movement is a vertical platform with four arms that makes a full revolution around the central axis in 10 minutes.
Hand-wound calibre JCAM24 has 365 components, 42 jewels and a 60-hour power reserve. The hour and minute dial turns on a patented differential, counter-rotating against the platform at matching speed, so it stays upright and readable. This version is limited to 9 pieces.
