Overview

A planetary system on a vertical movement

The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Tourbillon, reference AT100.60.AA.AA.B, in a platinum case, 50 mm across and 25 mm high. Its titanium dial sits over an aventurine base, on a black alligator strap.

The hands are blued.

Astronomia Tourbillon is Jacob & Co.’s wrist-sized model of a planetary system. A vertical platform with four arms rises from an aventurine base and makes a full revolution around the central axis in 10 minutes. The complications take the form of planetary bodies: a tourbillon, a diamond moon, an Earth globe and a rotating dial.

Hand-wound calibre JCAM10 has 365 components, 42 jewels and a 60-hour power reserve. Jacob & Co. describes it as a three-dimensional movement built on a central vertical axis. The hour and minute dial turns on a patented differential, counter-rotating against the platform at matching speed, so it stays upright and readable. This version is limited to 18 pieces.
