A dragon and a tiger around a fixed movement
The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Dragon, reference AT114.40.AA.UA.A, in an 18-carat rose gold case with sapphire side panes, 47 mm across and 24 mm high. Its openworked titanium dial sits off-centre, on a blue alligator leather strap with an 18-carat rose gold and titanium deployant clasp. This version is a pièce unique.
The dial is off-centred. The platform base is aventurine, and the crafted miniature is a tiger and a dragon in 18-carat rose gold with ruby eyes.
Jacob & Co. built the Astronomia as a vertical, rotating movement. For the Dragon it fixed that movement in place, which leaves room for a coiled sculpture between the four satellite arms. Like every Astronomia, it models a solar system: the Earth is a magnesium globe and the moon is a white diamond.
Hand-wound calibre JCAM47 has 384 components and a 60-hour power reserve. Its tourbillon turns on a single axis in 60 seconds. The diamond moon and the Earth globe each turn on their own axes in 30 seconds.
