A dragon coiled around a vertical movement
The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Dragon, reference AS312.21.AB.UA.A, in a black DLC titanium case with sapphire side panes, 44 mm across and 25 mm high. It has an off-centred, openworked titanium dial with rhodium hands, on a black alligator leather strap with an 18-carat black DLC titanium clasp.
Jacob & Co. fitted a hand-made dragon into the vertical Astronomia structure. The sculpture is cast, finished and painted by hand, and it coils around the movement and between its satellites. Jacob & Co. describes it as wingless and inspired by the Asian tradition.
Jacob & Co. says the vertical Astronomia movement normally rotates, and that for this model it stays fixed so the sculpture fits within its structure. Hand-wound calibre JCAM25 has 384 components and a 60-hour power reserve. Its double-axis tourbillon turns in 60 seconds on the first axis and in 2.5 minutes on the second. The Earth globe and a citrine each turn in 30 seconds. This version is a pièce unique.
