Overview
A rotating movement that chimes the time
The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Maestro, reference AM500.40.AA.AA.ABALA, in an 18-carat rose gold and sapphire crystal case, 50 mm across and 26 mm high. It has an aluminium and titanium dial with blue PVD indexes, on a blue alligator strap with an 18-carat rose gold folding buckle.
In 2014 Jacob Arabo turned his passion for space into the Astronomia concept, modelling a planetary system at the scale of a wristwatch. Here a vertical platform with four arms rises from the dial and makes a full turn every 10 minutes. The tourbillon hangs from one arm, and a hand-painted astronaut circles the watch in the same 10 minutes.
The watch also tells the time in sound. Its minute repeater strikes hours, quarters and minutes on three gongs with three hammers, and the gongs cross above the plate in a visible spiral. The Earth globe turns in 24 hours and serves as a world-time display. This version is limited to 18 pieces.
