The large Santos de Cartier skeleton in black ADLC steel
The Santos de Cartier skeleton, reference WHSA0009, in a black ADLC steel case, 47.5 x 39.7 mm and 9.08 mm thick. Manually wound calibre 9612 MC with skeletonised bridges forming Roman numerals, on a dark grey semi-matte alligator leather strap with a black ADLC steel double adjustable folding buckle.
Cartier traces the Santos de Cartier to 1904, when Louis Cartier met the wish of the Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont to tell the time while flying. Cartier picks out the dial's rounded angles, the continuous curve of the horns and the visible screws.
In this skeleton the hours and minutes are read against skeletonised bridges that form Roman numerals, with luminescent material. The manually wound Manufacture calibre 9612 MC is individually numbered, with 138 parts including 20 jewels, a balance of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a power reserve of approximately 72 hours.
