The Cartier Santos-Dumont, reference WGSA0123, in an 18-carat yellow gold case, 43.5 x 31.4 mm and 7.3 mm thick, with an obsidian dial. Manufacture calibre 430 MC with manual winding, on an interchangeable 18-carat yellow gold bracelet.
This version is in 18-carat yellow gold, with an obsidian dial and golden-finish Roman numerals.
Cartier dates the Santos-Dumont to 1904 and says Louis Cartier answered the wish of the Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont to read the time while flying. Cartier names the rounded angles of the dial, the horns that curve without a seam, and the exposed screws as the features of the design.
The movement is the manually wound calibre 430 MC, which shows the hours and minutes. A sapphire crystal covers the dial.
