The Tortue in a 41 x 33 mm platinum case
The Cartier Tortue, reference HPI01830, in a 950/1000 platinum case, 41 x 33 mm and 7.2 mm thick, with a guilloché dial. Manually wound calibre 430 MC, on grey and navy blue alligator leather straps with a diamond-set ardillon buckle.
Cartier says Louis Cartier imagined the Tortue in 1912, taking its shape from the tortoise. This is the large model, with 46 baguette-cut diamonds totalling 2.7 carats set in the case and a 0.06-carat diamond in the crown.
The movement is the manually wound calibre 430 MC, which shows the hours and minutes. Silvered Roman numeral hour-markers and silvered rhodiumised apple-shaped hands sit on a guilloché dial, under a sapphire crystal.
