he Chronomètre Bleu pairs a tantalum case with a chrome blue dial, and F.P. Journe prints no price for it. What a buyer pays is set by completed sales, and by what comes with the watch.
Price a Chronomètre Bleu from completed sales. The seven results from December 2024 to September 2026 in the table below, from Bonhams, Phillips and Antiquorum, run from about A$117,000 to A$307,000, converted at the Reserve Bank rate of 8 October 2026. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] The latest, in Phillips’ online Geneva Sessions in September 2026, sold for CHF 177,800, about A$307,000. [7] These are auction results before any import GST, not asking prices.
Compare like with like: the year, what comes with the watch and the sale date all differ from lot to lot.
Summary
F.P. Journe’s own page for the Chronomètre Bleu gives a 39 mm tantalum case, 8.3 mm high overall, a chrome blue dial and the manually wound calibre 1304. It prints no price. [9]
Bonhams, Phillips and Antiquorum each sold standard tantalum examples between December 2024 and September 2026. Phillips estimated its Geneva lots at CHF 30,000 to 60,000 through 2025, and at CHF 40,000 to 80,000 in September 2026. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7]
Two dated press reports give retail figures: EUR 23,000 including EU taxes in January 2016, and CHF 35,800 in January 2023. [10][11]
Auction results are completed sales in the currency of each sale, before any Australian import GST.
How this guide was prepared
Specifications, warranty, service and care terms, the boutique list and the Patrimoine Service come from F.P. Journe’s own pages, read on 15 October 2026. Auction results, estimates and accessory lists come from the lot pages of Bonhams, Phillips and Antiquorum. Retail figures come from two dated watch-press reports, Monochrome and Time and Tide, because F.P. Journe publishes no price. Conversions use the Reserve Bank of Australia rate of 8 October 2026, and import tax comes from the Australian Border Force.
What the Chronomètre Bleu is
F.P. Journe builds the Chronomètre Bleu around a 39 mm case of tantalum, ‘a rare dark grey metal with blue overtones’. It says the metal is ‘rarely used in watchmaking because it is very hard and difficult to fashion’. The chrome blue dial, in its words, ‘perfectly complements the colour of the case’. [9]
Inside is the manually wound calibre 1304, with baseplate and bridges in 18-carat rose gold. It has 22 jewels, two mainspring barrels in parallel, a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and an autonomy of ‘56 ± 2 hours’. The case is 8.3 mm high overall, with small seconds at 7:30. [9]
Monochrome’s review of 4 January 2016 credits F.P. Journe as the only maker to produce a case polished all over in tantalum, a metal it found very resistant to scratches. It explains that the dial’s colour is built from several layers of blue lacquer, each applied by hand and polished to a mirror finish before the next. [10]

Eden’s insight: what to look for in a Chronomètre Bleu
HYPA sells the Chronomètre Bleu; this is my own view.
How does the tantalum case wear?
F.P. Journe calls tantalum ‘very hard and difficult to fashion’, and Monochrome found it ‘extremely hard to scratch’. [9][10] The case is entirely polished, though, and in my experience the marks it does pick up show. At service, F.P. Journe can recondition the case at its Case Manufacture where that is required and possible. If you’d rather not, it offers a delicate buffing that leaves the existing marks in place. [17]
What should a buyer compare a price with?
Two 2021 watches, each with its guarantee, cloth, box and outer packaging, sold in Phillips’ online Geneva Sessions. One made CHF 114,300, about A$197,000, in September 2025; the other CHF 177,800, about A$307,000, in September 2026, and it also came with a service box. [4][7][8] So compare a watch with the most recent dated results for the same year.
What would make you walk away?
A watch opened outside F.P. Journe’s authorised network, which its warranty excludes. [18] Or a chrome blue dial that has been refinished, since its colour comes from layers of hand-applied lacquer. [10]
Auction results, November 2019 to September 2026
These are ten results for the standard tantalum Chronomètre Bleu with its chrome blue dial; limited editions such as the Byblos are left out. Each figure is converted at the Reserve Bank’s 8 October 2026 rate. [8] Bonhams prints its result including the buyer’s premium; Phillips and Antiquorum print a sold figure. [1][7][5]

The sales fall on different dates and in three currencies, and the last column applies one rate to all of them.
Two lots came with a certificate of authenticity rather than the original guarantee; F.P. Journe’s service page directs requests for one to its boutiques. [3][5][17]
The retail figures that can be dated
F.P. Journe prints no price for the Chronomètre Bleu, so the dated figures come from the watch press. [9]
Monochrome put the watch at ‘23,000 Euros (including EU taxes)’ on 4 January 2016, about A$37,000. Time and Tide reported on 8 January 2023 that retail stood at CHF 35,800, about A$62,000. [10][11]
Both conversions use the same rate as the auction results. They show what each sum is worth in Australian dollars at that rate, not what a buyer paid at the time.
Warranty, service and restoration in F.P. Journe’s words
F.P. Journe gives a 36-month warranty on a watch bought in one of its boutiques, and 24 months on one bought at an authorised point of sale. The 24-month term comes ‘with the possibility of a 12-month warranty extension via the fpjourne.com website’. The form must be filed ‘within 30 days after the date of purchase’. [18]
F.P. Journe’s warranty is valid only with the purchase invoice from an authorised F.P. Journe retailer, and runs from the date on that invoice. [18]
The warranty covers manufacturing flaws. It does not cover ‘normal wear or ageing’, damage from ‘abnormal use of the watch, improper care, accidents or alterations’, or ‘the opening of the watch by a non authorized person’. [18]
F.P. Journe publishes no service interval and no price; a quote follows its watchmakers’ diagnosis. It sets out ‘THE 10 STAGES OF SERVICE’, from identification and diagnosis to a final inspection. Two of them are ‘BUFFING OF THE CASE AND BUCKLE’ and ‘REPLACEMENT OF SEALS, CASING UP AND WATER-RESISTANCE TEST’. To drop off a watch, it invites owners to contact a boutique or an authorised point of sale. [17]
The same page states: ‘WATCHES THAT ARE NO LONGER PRODUCED WILL NOT BE ENTITLED TO ANY AESTHETICAL RESTORATION, EXCEPT FOR THOSE THAT STILL BELONG TO THE ORIGINAL OWNER.’ F.P. Journe’s site lists the Chronomètre Bleu in its Classique Collection. [17][9]
F.P. Journe’s care instructions state that ‘All F.P.Journe watches are water resistant up to 3 atmospheres (3 atm)’. They add that ‘The water resistance of a watch can not be guaranteed indefinitely’. [19]
Buying from F.P. Journe, in Australia and abroad
F.P. Journe’s own boutiques and Maisons are in eleven cities: Tokyo, Hong Kong, Geneva, Paris, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, London, Beirut, Dubai and Bangkok. None of them is in Australia. In Australia, fpjourne.com lists the Espace F.P.Journe operated by The Hour Glass Boutique in Sydney, under ‘Espaces and Retailers’. [12][13]
The manufacture also resells watches no longer in production through its Patrimoine Service, created in 2016. It says those watches ‘qualify for a new 3-year sales warranty’. On 15 October 2026 the page listed no watches as available. [20]
Setting an offer
Compare the watch you are offered with the rows that match it in year and in what comes with it, and note each sale’s date and currency. Our guide to buying a pre-owned F.P. Journe Élégante in Australia covers the warranty, papers and authentication checks that apply here too.
Bringing one into Australia
Importing a watch bought overseas adds tax. The Australian Border Force states: ‘You must pay 10 per cent of the value of the taxable importation (VoTI)’. That value is the sum of the customs value, the international transport and insurance, and any customs duty payable. [21] The full costs are set out in our guide to buying a Richard Mille overseas versus in Australia, and they work the same way for an F.P. Journe.
Buying a Chronomètre Bleu through HYPA
HYPA International is an independent, registered Victorian second-hand dealer, Registration No. SHD-0018017, in Melbourne. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or an authorised retailer of any manufacturer named on this website. [22] Every watch is inspected by an expert watchmaker and authenticated before it is sold, and anything HYPA finds is disclosed before the watch ships. [23] Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST unless stated otherwise. Payment is by bank transfer only. [22]
The reference has its own Chronomètre Bleu page within our F.P. Journe collection. The full terms are on the HYPA terms page, and what you receive when you buy from HYPA sets out what arrives with the watch. Our guide to the most sought-after F.P. Journe watches sets this model among the others.

Frequently asked questions
How long is the F.P. Journe warranty on a Chronomètre Bleu?
F.P. Journe gives 36 months on a Chronomètre Bleu bought in one of its boutiques, and 24 months on one bought at an authorised point of sale. The 24-month term can be extended by 12 months through fpjourne.com, on a form filed within 30 days of purchase. The warranty excludes normal wear, accidents and opening by a non-authorised person. These are F.P. Journe’s terms as published on 15 October 2026. [18]
Can I buy an F.P. Journe Chronomètre Bleu in Australia?
In Australia, fpjourne.com lists the Espace F.P.Journe operated by The Hour Glass Boutique in Sydney, under ‘Espaces and Retailers’. F.P. Journe’s eleven boutiques and Maisons are overseas, from Tokyo and Hong Kong to Geneva and New York. [13][12] Its Patrimoine Service, which resells watches no longer produced, listed none on 15 October 2026. [20]
Can F.P. Journe restore a scratched tantalum case on a Chronomètre Bleu?
F.P. Journe’s service, as its page set it out on 15 October 2026, includes case and buckle reconditioning where it is required and possible. If reconditioning is not wanted, ‘a delicate buffing may be performed’ that revives the shine ‘without removing the present marks or scratches’. [17] F.P. Journe’s site lists the Chronomètre Bleu in its Classique Collection. Its separate rule on ‘aesthetical restoration’ covers models no longer produced, limiting it to watches that still belong to their original owner. [9][17]
Is the F.P. Journe Chronomètre Bleu water resistant?
F.P. Journe prints no water resistance figure on the Chronomètre Bleu’s own page. [9] Its care instructions, as published on 15 October 2026, say ‘All F.P.Journe watches are water resistant up to 3 atmospheres (3 atm)’, and that ‘The water resistance of a watch can not be guaranteed indefinitely’. [19] One of F.P. Journe’s ten service stages is ‘REPLACEMENT OF SEALS, CASING UP AND WATER-RESISTANCE TEST’, so ask for the date of the last service. [17]
