Overview
The Fiftysix line's first tourbillon
The Vacheron Constantin Fiftysix Tourbillon, reference 6000E/000R-B488, in 18K pink gold with a silver-toned double-finished dial and brown alligator leather strap, closed by a pink gold triple folding clasp. Self-winding calibre 2160 with a tourbillon and small seconds on its carriage; 41 mm, 10.94 mm high, certified to the Hallmark of Geneva.
The reference 6000E/000R-B488 is Vacheron Constantin's Fiftysix Tourbillon, which the brand describes as its Fiftysix collection's first tourbillon and a tribute to a 1956 model. The case is 18K pink gold, 41 mm across and 10.94 mm high, with the brand's Maltese cross shape appearing on the tourbillon cage, on the crown and, more discreetly, worked into the case horns. The silver-toned dial is double-finished, with an opaline centre and a sunburst satin outer ring, small seconds shown on the tourbillon carriage itself, and 18K gold baton-type hands with Arabic-numeral hour-markers, both highlighted in blue SuperLuminova®. It is worn on a brown alligator leather strap, closed by an 18K pink gold triple folding clasp.
Inside is the self-winding calibre 2160: 31 mm across, 5.65 mm high, with 188 parts and 30 jewels, running at 18,000 V.P.H. (2.5 Hz) for a stated 80-hour power reserve -- what the brand's own text separately describes as more than three days. The winding mass is a peripheral design in 22K gold, set around the movement's edge rather than across its centre, so the openworked sapphire case back shows the tourbillon and the whole movement. The watch is certified to the Hallmark of Geneva; the brand's own account dates the mark to 1886, when Geneva's authorities set it as a mark of finishing quality, and says it today signals a watch's origin, craftsmanship and dependability rather than a single technical spec.
For collectors
The tourbillon's small seconds are shown on the carriage itself rather than through a separate sub-dial, and the peripheral winding mass leaves the whole movement, tourbillon included, visible through the case back -- both stated plainly on the page rather than elaborated further.
