Overview
A single-metal tourbillon chronograph
The Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Tourbillon Chronograph Collection Excellence Platine, reference 5100T/000P-H041, entirely 950 platinum -- case, dial, buckles and strap stitching -- on a dark blue alligator strap. Manual-winding calibre 3200/260, tourbillon and single-push chronograph to 45 minutes; 42.5 mm, 11.7 mm high, 50-piece limited edition, Hallmark of Geneva certified.
The reference 5100T/000P-H041 is Vacheron Constantin's Traditionnelle Tourbillon Chronograph Collection Excellence Platine, built entirely in 950 platinum -- case, dial, buckles and even the strap stitching -- as a 50-piece limited edition. It combines a tourbillon with a single-push chronograph. The tourbillon cage takes the shape of the Maltese cross and is driven through an intermediary wheel mounted on the seconds display, which the brand says opens a larger view onto the mechanism; small seconds are shown on the carriage itself. The sand-blasted platinum dial carries a 'Pt950' hallmark between 4 and 5 o'clock, a power-reserve indicator at 6 o'clock and a 45-minute chronograph counter at 3 o'clock, framed by a railway-style minute track and a tachymeter scale around the dial's edge. The case measures 42.5 mm across and 11.7 mm high, water-resistant to 30 m, on a dark blue alligator strap closed by a platinum triple folding clasp.
The manual-winding calibre 3200/260 drives both complications: 32.8 mm across, 6.7 mm high, 292 parts and 39 jewels, running at 18,000 V.P.H. (2.5 Hz) for a stated 65-hour power reserve. The watch is certified to the Hallmark of Geneva; per the brand's own account the Republic and Canton of Geneva created the mark in 1886 as their guarantee of finishing quality, and it stands today for provenance, sound craftsmanship and reliability.
For collectors
This platinum, 50-piece Collection Excellence Platine execution and the 18K pink gold execution of the same case and complication run different-numbered calibres -- this one is 3200/260, the pink gold reference plain 3200 -- worth treating as distinct movements rather than the same calibre in different metals.
