Overview
The perpetual calendar, skeletonised
The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Skeleton, reference 4300V/220G-B946, in 18K white gold with an openworked movement behind a sapphire dial with a blue minute track, on the white gold bracelet. Self-winding calibre 1120/3 QPSQN/1 with a hand-read perpetual calendar and moon phase; 41.5 mm, 8.1 mm high, certified to the Hallmark of Geneva.
This execution is the same Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Skeleton case and calibre 1120/3 QPSQN/1 movement as the pink gold reference, in 18K white gold with the same blue sapphire dial, blue minute track and blue counters. The bracelet and its triple folding clasp are white gold, with a spare white gold Ardillon buckle for the two extra straps.
The reference 4300V/220R is Vacheron Constantin's Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Skeleton, offered in 18K pink and 18K white gold, which the brand's page describes as an entirely skeletonised version of the Overseas perpetual calendar. The case is 41.5 mm across and 8.1 mm high, water-resistant to 50 m, with a transparent sapphire case back. In place of a solid dial, a sapphire disc carries a velvet-finished minute track, a moon-phase display against a starry sky in 18K gold with two gold moons; the hour-markers and hands are 18K gold, picked out in blue SuperLuminova®.
The self-winding calibre 1120/3 QPSQN/1 shares the dimensions of the Overseas' non-skeleton perpetual calendar movement -- 29.6 mm across, 4.05 mm high, 276 parts and 36 jewels, running at 19,800 V.P.H. (2.75 Hz) for a stated 40-hour power reserve -- but is openworked, and the page states its NAC-coated grey finish is visible through the sapphire dial as well as through the case back. The page repeats the same claim as the solid-dial executions, that the calendar reads correctly until 2100. The movement is certified to the Hallmark of Geneva, which the brand's own account dates to an 1886 standard set by the Republic and Canton of Geneva, tied to provenance and craftsmanship rather than one figure. The bracelet, closed by its own triple folding clasp in the case metal, can be swapped for a dark blue calfskin leather strap or a dark blue rubber strap, using a spare Ardillon buckle in the case metal.
For collectors
The calibre's part count, jewel count, power reserve and frequency are identical to the solid-dial 4300V perpetual calendar's calibre 1120 QP; only the Caliber tab's own reference changes, to 1120/3 QPSQN/1, marking this as the openworked version of a related movement rather than proof it is the same one.
