Carbon TPT® case with a Yas Blue flange and crown
The RM 055 Yas Marina Circuit marks Richard Mille’s role as official timing partner of the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, which has hosted the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix since 2009. The edition ran to 50 pieces and was sold only through the brand’s two boutiques in the United Arab Emirates, at the Dubai Mall and the Galleria Mall in Abu Dhabi.
The case is Carbon TPT®, built from more than 600 layers of carbon fibre. The circuit’s identifying colour, Yas Blue, is applied to the inner flange framing the movement and to the crown rubber, and the YMC logo is engraved on the sapphire caseback. The strap is white rubber.

Design and engineering
- Carbon TPT® caseCarbon threads are divided into layers no thicker than 30 microns, saturated in resins developed for Richard Mille, and stacked by an automatic positioning system that rotates the fibre orientation by 45° between layers. The stack is heated to 120°C under 6 bar of pressure and then CNC-machined at the brand’s own facilities. The layered structure produces a damascene surface pattern that differs on every case; Richard Mille specifies more than 600 layers for this one.
- Calibre RMUL2A manual winding skeletonised movement indicating hours, minutes and seconds. The baseplate and bridges are grade 5 titanium, PVD- and Titalyt®-treated, a combination Richard Mille specifies for rigidity and for the surface flatness the going train requires.
- Shock resistanceRichard Mille states the calibre withstands accelerations of over 500 g.
- Free-sprung variable-inertia balanceThe regulator index is eliminated. Rate adjustment is made by four small weights mounted directly on the balance, which Richard Mille specifies for repeatability of setting and for reliability through shock, assembly and disassembly.
- Double-barrel systemStored energy is distributed across two winding barrels rather than one. This increases the number of barrel rotations and reduces pressure on teeth, bearings and pivots, and supports the circa 55-hour power reserve.
- Circuit markingsYas Blue on the inner flange and crown rubber; the YMC logo engraved on the sapphire caseback.
