Diamond-set white gold case on the RM 023 automatic
The RM 023 was introduced in 2009, based on the RM 010 and sized between the RM 007 and the RM 010 at 45.00 × 38.30 × 11.25 mm. Richard Mille designed it as a unisex model, with an asymmetrical dial layout carrying appliqué Roman numerals on sapphire and a sculpted crown with an Alcryn® collar.
This record carries a diamond-set 18k white gold case. The calibre RMA02 is an automatic movement with hours, minutes, seconds, date and a variable-geometry rotor.

Design and engineering
- Variable-geometry rotorThe rotor carries white gold V-shaped ribs and a weight segment milled along the outer edge from a tungsten/cobalt alloy, on synthetic ceramic ball bearings. Its geometry is set to the wearer’s activity level before the watch leaves the workshop.
- Double barrelThe double barrel system reduces wear on the movement and evens out variations in the power delivered to the going train.
- PVD-treated titanium baseplateBaseplate, bridges and balance-cock are titanium with a PVD treatment and extensive skeletonisation, developed for rigidity and surface flatness.
- Movement mountingNo casing ring is used. The movement is seated in the tripartite case on chassis mounting rubbers fixed with four titanium screws, isolating it from shock and vibration.
- Appliqué numerals on sapphireRoman numerals are applied directly to the sapphire in an asymmetrical layout.
- Alcryn®-collared crownThe sculpted crown carries a collar in Alcryn®.
