Red Quartz TPT® case, boutique limited edition
Announced in October 2015, this edition put the RM 011 in a case of red Quartz TPT® combined with Carbon TPT®. It followed the RM 27-02 Rafael Nadal, on which the Quartz TPT® material had first appeared, and was the first application of the material in red.
The edition ran to 50 pieces and was distributed through Richard Mille boutiques worldwide rather than the wider retail network.

Design and engineering
- Quartz TPT® constructionLayers of silica no thicker than 45 microns are inserted between layers of carbon by an automated application system that changes the orientation of the fibres by 45° between each layer. The stack is heated to 120 °C in an autoclave of the type used for aeronautical parts before machining.
- Red pigmentationThe colour comes from an intense red resin whose shine is carried by the quartz fibres. Richard Mille states the pigment was selected for stability and biocompatibility and satisfies REACH regulations.
- Combination with Carbon TPT®Pairing red Quartz TPT® with Carbon TPT® means the machining process reveals the pattern formed where the two materials meet, and that pattern is different on every case.
- Calibre RMAC1Skeletonised automatic winding movement in grade 5 titanium, hand finished, with flyback chronograph and countdown function, oversize date at 12 o’clock and month display between 4 and 5 o’clock. The double-barrel arrangement is wound by a variable-geometry rotor.
- DistributionThe 50-piece edition was sold only through Richard Mille boutiques.
