Two pieces, made for the 2012 Le Mans Classic
Richard Mille has been Principal Partner and Official Timekeeper of the Le Mans Classic since the meeting’s first edition in 2002. For the sixth edition, held from 6 to 8 July 2012, the brand made two limited editions: the RM 008 LMC and the RM 011 LMC.
The RM 008 LMC is a tourbillon split-seconds chronograph, and it was released in a limited edition of two timepieces.
Its colours come from the circuit. The chronograph minute and seconds displays — the seconds indicated by the tourbillon — together with the torque and function indicators are worked in the blue and yellow of the rumble strips on the 13-kilometre Le Mans track. The Le Mans Classic logo sits on the dial at 12 o’clock.
The case is microblasted grade 5 titanium with a DLC-treated caseband, and the bezel is a double-striped "Le Mans" type, also microblasted. The photograph shows it with a blue crown on a black rubber strap.

Design and engineering
- Calibre RM008Manual winding tourbillon movement with hours, minutes, seconds, split-seconds chronograph, 30-minute totaliser, power-reserve indicator, torque indicator and function indicator. The RM 008 runs to more than 500 components.
- TourbillonThe carriage is built from 85 parts and weighs 0.34 grams. Here it carries the chronograph seconds indication.
- Split-seconds chronographStarted and stopped by the pusher at 8 o’clock, reset by the pusher at 10 o’clock. Richard Mille records the near-complete elimination of the initial jump in the chronograph seconds hand.
- Torque indicatorDisplays the tension of the mainspring so that the chronometric behaviour of the movement can be optimised. On this edition it is one of the displays rendered in the Le Mans blue and yellow.
- Microblasted titanium caseGrade 5 titanium, microblasted, with the caseband DLC-treated. The double-striped "Le Mans" type bezel is microblasted to match.
- Le Mans Classic logoPositioned on the dial at 12 o’clock.
- Free-sprung balanceGlucydur®, two arms, four adjusting screws, moment of inertia 10 mg·cm², angle of lift 53°, with an Elinvar balance spring by Nivarox and KIF Elastor KE 160 shock protection.
- Gear-teeth profileBarrel and third-wheel pinion with a central involute profile at a 20° pressure angle, specified for torque transmission and for compensating differences between wheel centres.
