Overview
First automatic Richard Mille
Launched in 2004, the RM 005 is Richard Mille’s first automatic watch. It displays hours, minutes and centre seconds with a semi-instantaneous date at 7 o’clock, in a case measuring 37.8 × 45 mm.
The reference introduced the patented variable-geometry rotor, whose ribs can be set to six positions to alter its inertia and adjust winding efficiency to the wearer’s activity level. The titanium baseplate required new tooling to produce and had to be assembled without marking its PVD treatment.
