Overview
A large date balanced by a power reserve
The Jacob & Co. Palatial Classic, reference PC400.40.AA.AE.A, in an 18-carat rose gold case, 42 mm across and 13.5 mm high. Its green sunburst dial has Arabic hour markers and polished dauphine hands, on a green alligator leather strap with a stainless steel pin clasp.
This version has Arabic hour markers on a green sunburst dial. The clasp is a stainless steel pin, and the case back combines green mineral and sapphire crystal.
The large date sits at 12 o’clock and the power reserve indicator at 6 o’clock, so the two balance each other on the dial. Two discs under the dial carry the date, one for the tens and one for the units, and together they show it in a larger window. Jacob & Co. built the case slim, with curved lugs.
Hand-wound calibre JCAM52 has 173 components and a 48-hour power reserve. Jacob & Co. chose a hand-wound movement over a self-winding one to keep the case thin. The power reserve hand tells the wearer when to wind the crown, before the reserve runs out.
