An oil well on the wrist
The Jacob & Co. Oil Pump 49.5MM, reference OI100.40.AA.AB.A, in an 18-carat rose gold case, 49.5 mm across and 20 mm high. Its dial has a honeycomb grille on a titanium base with rose gold-plated derricks and pipes, on a brown alligator leather strap with an 18-carat rose gold and titanium folding clasp.
The strap of this version is brown alligator leather.
Jacob & Co. built this watch as a three-dimensional model of an oil well. The derrick rig bobs up and down, coupled with a downward-facing tourbillon that stands in for the drill head. Barrel, pipes and a manifold complete the scene, and a pressure gauge on the dial is the power reserve indicator.
Hand-wound calibre JCAM33 has 510 components and a 60-hour power reserve. The pusher at 2 o’clock sets the automaton working: two horse heads move up and down, linked to the hour and minute sub-dial. The sequence lasts at least 35 seconds. This version is limited to 88 pieces.
