Overview
A skeleton movement hung on two bridges
The Jacob & Co. Epic X Bridges, reference EX120.43.AB.AB.A, in an 18-carat rose gold case, 44 mm across and 13.05 mm high. Its skeleton movement has Clous de Paris bridges with black PVD edges, on a black honeycomb rubber strap with an 18-carat rose gold pin buckle.
On this version the bridge edges are black PVD, set against the rose gold case.
Jacob & Co. took the letter X as the starting point for the Epic X collection, launched in 2016, because it stands for something unknown and appealing. Epic X Bridges applies that shape to a skeleton watch. The lugs are X-shaped, full and flush with the case, and the bezel is polished and smooth, set at a steeper angle.
Hand-wound calibre JCAM45 was developed for this watch and is skeletonised throughout. Instead of a mainplate, it hangs from two vertical bridges. Components that would normally be solid are hollowed out, and each visible part has a technical and a visual role. It has 158 components and a 48-hour power reserve. The dial-side bridges carry an engraved Clous de Paris pattern, and bevelled edges, both brilliant and matte, run across the components.
