An X-shaped skeleton in a 44 mm case
The Jacob & Co. Epic X Skeleton, reference EX113.43.AB.AA.A, in an 18-carat rose gold and PEEK case, 44 mm across and 12.45 mm high. Its skeletonised movement is framed by a black aluminium inner ring, on a black honeycomb rubber strap with an 18-carat rose gold pin buckle.
Jacob & Co. launched the Epic X collection in 2016 and took the letter X as its design starting point. In Epic X Skeleton the X begins at one pair of lugs, continues through the movement’s two vertical bridges and ends at the other pair of lugs. Case and movement are designed as one piece.
Hand-wound calibre JCAM45 was developed for this watch and shows hours and minutes only. It has no mainplate: the whole movement hangs from two vertical bridges, and parts that would normally be solid are hollowed out. The plating colour of the gears and bridges, and bevelled edges in bright and matte finishes, shape its look.
