A skeleton movement built on the letter X
The Jacob & Co. Epic X Baguette, reference EX100.43.BD.BF.A, in an 18-carat rose gold and ceramic case, 44 mm across and 12.3 mm high. The bezel is set with 38 white baguette-cut diamonds (≈4.02 ct) and the inner ring with 48 baguette rainbow gems (≈3.88 ct), on a white strap with an 18-carat rose gold folding clasp.
Jacob & Co. launched the Epic X collection in 2016, taking the letter X as its starting point and describing it as a symbol of something unknown and appealing. In the Baguette version the case and the movement are designed as one. Four X-shaped lugs, flush with the case, continue the structure of the skeleton movement.
Hand-wound calibre JCAM45 was developed for this watch. Its components are hollowed out so that the structure becomes the shape, and the movement is held by two vertical bridges engraved with a Clou de Paris pattern. The openworked barrel sits at 12 o’clock and the balance wheel, under a skeleton bridge, at 6 o’clock, both on the dial side near the sapphire crystal.
