Overview
A sports chronograph with a rotating inner ring
The Jacob & Co. Epic X Chrono 47MM, reference EC323.42.AC.AA.A40AA, in an 18-carat rose gold and titanium case, 47 mm across and 14 mm high. Its dial is smoked sapphire glass with rose gold satin-finished anodised aluminium inner rings, on a polished 18-carat rose gold bracelet.
The pushers and screw-down crowns are black ceramic. The rotor is anthracite with a red lacquered engraving, and the bridges are circular grained.
Jacob & Co. launched the Epic X collection in 2016 and took its design from the letter X. Crown guards, pusher protectors and an X shape running from the lugs through the dial carry over into this sports chronograph. The multi-part case lets each version combine different materials.
Self-winding calibre JCAA05 is a bi-compax chronograph with a horizontal clutch, a column wheel and two pushers. It has 260 components, 27 jewels and a 48-hour power reserve. A rotor shaped after the collection’s X winds it and is visible through the caseback.

Design and engineering
- ChronographOne pusher, at two o’clock, runs the timing and stops it again, with no set end to a sequence. Elapsed time shows on the central seconds hand and on the minute counter at 3 o’clock. The pusher at four o’clock returns the hands to zero.
- Rotating inner ringA second crown, at ten o’clock, turns the inner ring on demand, to set time marks or run a countdown. Read against the central minute hand it times an hour, and against the red chronograph hand it times a minute.
- DialTinted and translucent, so that some of the movement’s key parts can be seen through it.
- CaseThe crown, pushers and countdown crown sit in protective extensions of the round case. Water resistant to 200 m.
