Gems packed like caviar in a 47 mm case
The Jacob & Co. Caviar Tourbillon, reference CV210.30.CB.CB.A, in an 18-carat white gold case, 47 mm across and 15.85 mm high. Its 18-carat white gold dial is invisibly set with 130 blue baguette-cut sapphires (≈9.66 ct.), on a white alligator leather strap with an 18-carat white gold folding clasp.
Jacob & Co. built this watch on the look of a freshly opened tin of caviar, where tightly packed grains form one smooth surface. It says brilliant-cut stones cannot fill a space completely, so it chose the baguette cut. The stones are invisibly set, with no prongs or metal showing between them.
Calibre JCAA43 is self-winding and regulated by a one-minute flying tourbillon, seen through an opening in the dial. The carriage is held only from its base, so it has no upper bridge. Jacob & Co. says self-winding is an unusual choice for it. Here the openworked rotor and the bridges are gem-set and can be seen through the sapphire caseback. This version is limited to 18 pieces.
