A V16 engine block in sapphire
The Jacob & Co. Bugatti Tourbillon, reference BU300.40.AA.AA.A, in an 18-carat rose gold case, 52 x 44 mm and 15 mm high. It has red and 18-carat gold dials with a red Bugatti logo, on an interchangeable black rubber strap with louvres and an 18-carat rose gold deployment buckle.
The hands are red, and the caseback combines sapphire crystals with black PVD titanium.
Jacob & Co. and Bugatti have been partners since 2019, and this watch shares its name with Bugatti’s hyper sports car. Its automaton is a V16 engine block, made from one piece of transparent sapphire. The block is drilled with 16 cylinders, which house 16 titanium pistons on a single crankshaft. Set it running and the crankshaft spins while the 16 cylinders move up and down.
Hand-wound calibre JCAM55 has 557 components, 74 jewels and an 80-hour power reserve. Hours and minutes are both retrograde: each hand sweeps an arc of 270 degrees, then returns to zero, and the hour hand also jumps from one hour to the next. The flying tourbillon turns in 30 seconds. This version is limited to 99 pieces.
