A W16 engine block in a transparent case
The Jacob & Co. Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon Sapphire Crystal, reference BU210.80.AA.AA.B, in a case of sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, 57.8 x 44.4 mm and 21.5 mm high. Its rhodium-plated dial has blue indices and a blue “EB” logo, on a white translucent rubber strap with a titanium deployant clasp. This version is limited to 7 pieces.
Jacob & Co. and Bugatti began their partnership in 2019. The case reinterprets the Chiron’s horseshoe grille, quarter glass and headlights in sapphire crystal, and seven sapphire panels give a view of the movement. Jacob & Co. says that growing, cutting and polishing a sapphire crystal of this size takes a great deal of time and skill.
Hand-wound calibre JCAM37 has 578 components, 51 jewels and a 60-hour power reserve. Its automaton is a W16 engine block in transparent sapphire, with 16 pistons driven by a single crankshaft in a 15-second sequence. A tubular structure frames the flying tourbillon, which turns once a minute at a 30-degree incline, and four coiled springs act as shock absorbers.
