Overview
Twin tourbillons and a double-retrograde chronograph
The Jacob & Co. Jean Bugatti, reference BU100.30.AA.AB.ABALA, in an 18-carat white gold case, 46 mm across and 16 mm high. It has a velvety off-white dial with red, inward-pointing, openworked hour and minute hands, on a blue alligator strap with an 18-carat white gold deployment clasp.
Jacob & Co. and Bugatti Automobiles entered a partnership in 2019. This watch is named after Jean Bugatti, the eldest son of Ettore Bugatti. Jacob & Co. likens the dial to the dashboard of a vintage Bugatti, with openings at the bottom that evoke a 1930s coupé’s grille and headlights. The hour and minute hands sit on the outer rim and point inwards.
Hand-wound calibre JCFM09 has 92 jewels and is built as two connected systems on one mainplate. The timekeeping part has its own barrel and gear train and drives the peripheral hours and minutes through twin flying tourbillons. The chronograph part has its own barrel and regulating organ. Its two central hands are retrograde: one runs from 0 to 10 and jumps back, while the other steps forward. This version is limited to 57 pieces.
