A micro-rotor tourbillon set with baguette stones
The Jacob & Co. Brilliant Flying Tourbillon, reference BT560.30.AC.UA.A, in an 18-carat white gold case, 42 mm across and 11.61 mm high. Its case and dial are invisibly set with baguette-cut pastel arlequino sapphires and white diamonds, on a white alligator leather strap with an 18-carat white gold tang buckle. This version is a pièce unique.
Jacob & Co. introduced the Brilliant collection for women in 2017. The cases are round and have no lugs, and the strap is fixed directly to the case. The case is shaped like a pebble, and Jacob & Co. says its rounded edges give the collection its brilliance. Jacob & Co. says it sets stones only by the invisible technique, so no prongs or visible metal interrupt the surface.
Self-winding calibre JCFA02 has a micro-rotor and a tourbillon, with a 72-hour power reserve. Its bridges are set with 234 brilliant-cut white diamonds and its balance wheel with 48. Setting stones on bridges is delicate work, because the pressure can bend the parts.
