Overview
A roulette table beneath a rotating platform
The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Casino, reference AT860.30.BD.BD.A, in an 18-carat white gold case with a single-block sapphire caseband, 47 mm across and 24 mm high. Its openworked titanium dial sits above a blue alligator leather strap with an 18-carat white gold deployant clasp. The lugs, bezel, roulette base and clasp are set with white baguette-cut diamonds.
In this version the caseback and clasp are 18-carat white gold, with the same diamond setting.
Beneath the rotating Astronomia platform sits a working roulette wheel with 37 pockets: the numbers 1 to 36 are in red and black lacquer, with a green zero. Press the pusher and a white ball runs around the wheel. Jacob & Co. says the pusher takes little force and that the wheel spins fastest with the watch held flat.
Hand-wound calibre JCAM36 has 390 components and a 60-hour power reserve. The movement turns once in 10 minutes around a central vertical axis and carries four arms. A flying tourbillon hangs from one arm and turns in 60 seconds. The platform’s rotation adds a second axis. The hour and minute dial sits on another arm and counter-rotates through a differential at the platform’s speed, so it stays upright and readable. This version is limited to 6 pieces.
