Overview
A movement that turns once a minute
The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Revolution, reference AT170.31.AA.AA.A, in an 18-carat black gold case with a single-block sapphire caseband, 47 mm across and 27 mm high. Its base is black spinel with a skeleton black sub-dial, on a black alligator leather strap with an 18-carat black gold deployment buckle.
The hands are 5N red gold dauphine.
In Astronomia Revolution the whole vertical movement platform completes one rotation every 60 seconds. Jacob & Co. says the platform turned once in 20 minutes in 2014 and was brought down to 10, then 5, before reaching one minute. It carries three arms instead of the usual four, which Jacob & Co. says saves weight and energy.
Hand-wound calibre JCAM48B has 434 components and a 30-hour power reserve. Turning the platform this fast draws a lot of energy, so Jacob & Co. added a constant force device that acts as a buffer for the escapement. The escapement sits in a flying double-axis tourbillon, and the platform adds a third axis. A differential keeps the off-centred hour and minute dial upright. This version is limited to 6 pieces.

Design and engineering
- DialBlack spinel base; skeleton black polycarbonate sub-dial with 5N applied indices.
- Hands5N red gold dauphine hands.
- SecondsA steel arrow with a pyramid-shaped synthetic ruby tip turns counterclockwise on its own axis in 15 seconds.
- TourbillonFlying double-axis tourbillon: the first axis turns in 60 seconds and the second in 15 seconds. The platform’s own 60-second rotation adds the third axis.
- Constant forceA constant force device buffers the energy reaching the escapement, with a loading frequency of 1/6th of a second.
- Case18-carat black gold, with a single-block sapphire caseband, a curved anti-reflective sapphire crystal and a black gold caseback. Water resistant to 30 m.
